The Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) has appointed Pastor Kayode Pitan as the new pastor of the City of David Parish in Lagos.
He succeeds Pastor Charles Kpandei, who had been serving as the interim pastor since the suspension of Pastor Idowu Iluyomade.
Pitan’s appointment was made by the governing council of the church during its recent convention.
He brings extensive corporate experience to his new role, having worked in banking and finance for many years.
Prior to his appointment, he was the Pastor in Charge of the Tabernacle of David in Region 51 and served as the Regional Pastor.
Pitan’s appointment marks the end of Iluyomade’s tenure at the City of David parish.
Iluyomade was suspended due to certain allegations, and Kpandei had been leading the parish in the interim.
With his appointment, Pitan now oversees Region 20, with the City of David serving as its headquarters. Pastor Ben Akabueze will serve as the Assistant Pastor in Charge of Region 20.
Kpandei has returned to his previous role as Pastor in Charge of Region 11 in Lekki.
Pitan’s background includes graduate studies in the US and a successful career in banking and finance. He served as the Managing Director and CEO of the Bank of Industry (BoI) from 2015 to 2023, focusing on industrialisation and SME support.
