Musician and activist Charly Boy has expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the late President General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu, for his kindness and support in reviving his music career in 1981.
In a tribute to the late Iwuanyanwu, who passed away on Thursday at the age of 82, Charly Boy revealed how the generous act of Iwuanyanwu helped him establish his music studio and kickstart his career.
Charly Boy narrated how he met Iwuanyanwu in his village, Oguta, after disowning his parents for not supporting his music dreams.
He received an unexpected gift of $8,000 from Iwuanyanwu, which enabled him to build his brand and start his Jankara studio in his village.
He described Iwuanyanwu as the first Nigerian to believe in and support his dreams, calling him “Biggest bros/father.”
Charly Boy emphasized the importance of legacy, touching lives, and inspiring others. He thanked Iwuanyanwu for his kindness, saying that his act of generosity had a profound impact on his life and career.
He concluded by saying that we are remembered for our smiles, the ones we share with our loved ones, and the ones we bestow on strangers who need it.
