Human Rights Lawyer Offers Free Legal Services To Lagos Protesters

Sharing is caring

Human rights lawyer Inibehe Effiong has announced that participants in the planned nationwide protest in Lagos State will receive free legal representation if arrested or charged to court.

Effiong, an advocate for the protests, solicited legal counsels in Lagos to offer pro-bono services to protesters.

Two lawyers, Omodolapo Yusuff and Benjamin Odeh, have already offered to join the legal team.

They emphasized the importance of awareness and public understanding of the protest’s reasons to prevent hijacking and vandalism.

The lawyers noted that the protest is a fundamental human right, and the demands include an increase in the national minimum wage and reduction in the cost of food items.

Despite calls from state governors and the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory to back down, the protests are scheduled to take place from August 1-10, 2024.

President Bola Tinubu has held emergency meetings with APC state governors, traditional rulers, and Islamic scholars to address the planned protests.
