Ministry Of Power And Water Resources Ranks 1st In Transparency And Accountability In Anambra

The Anambra State Ministry of Power and Water Resources has been awarded the 2023 Best Ministry in Transparency and Accounting Performance.

This was made known by The Anambra State Accounting Staff Association (ASASA) following their assessment of ministries on transparency and accountability in Anambra for the year 2023.

Addressing The Ministry, The Chairman of ASASA, Mr. Achor J.C., congratulated The Commissioner, Engr. Julius Chukwuemeka and his management team for their prudent and transparent financial management, which earned the ministry this honor. He presented the award to the ministry.

Achor, who is also the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Finance, noted that ASASA aims to encourage financial prudence and accountability across ministries, departments, and agencies in the State.

Receiving the award, which came with a cheque, the Commissioner, Engr. Julius Chukwuemeka, on behalf of the ministry, thanked the members of the Anambra State Accounting Staff Association for independently monitoring the financial management of MDAs, which he said is aiding development.

Chukwuemeka, who dedicated the award to the Governor, Prof. Charles Soludo CFR, whom he described as the most prudent Governor in Nigeria, also thanked the management team and staff of the ministry for making the honour possible.

Present at the brief ceremony were the Ministry’s Permanent Secretary, Sir Victor Ezekwo; Managing Director of Anambra State Urban Water Asset Holdings Corporation, Hon. Ikeobi Ejiofor; HOD Accounts, Dr. Mrs. Molokwu Ifeoma; former HOD Accounts, Mr. Sylvester Ezendue; Chairman Capacity Building ASASA, Ogbuagu Ifunanya; State Fire Chief, Engr. Chiketa Chukwudi; HOD Water Resources/Programme Manager RUWASA, Director Accounts Ministry of Lands & Vice Chairman ASASA, Egwuatu Adaeze; Nwosu Tochukwu; Secretary ASASA, Onyekwe Albert; among others.
