Senate Passes Anti-doping Bill For Third Reading

The Nigerian Senate on Thursday passed for a third reading the anti-doping Bill seeking to prohibit Nigerian athletes from consuming performance-enhancing substances during or after sporting competitions.



This followed the consideration and adoption of a report of the Senate committee on judiciary, human rights, and legal matters presented by its chairman, Senator Mohammed Monguno during plenary.


The Senate had on May 22, passed the Bill for a second reading.


Meanwhile, after deliberations, the President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio referred the Bill to the Senate Committee on Sports and asked it to report back to the committee of whole in two weeks.
