Managerial Vacancy: Bayern Munich Agree Deal In Principle With Kompany
Burnley manager Vincent Kompany has agreed a deal in principle to become the new Bayern Munich coach.
The German club moved for Kompany after a series of rejections in their search for a successor to Thomas Tuchel.
It is understood Kompany has agreed a deal until 2027, with Bayern set to pay Burnley £10.2m in compensation.
The verbal agreement between Bayern and Kompany is now in effect, and official talks with Burnley have started
Although a formal agreement has not yet been signed, the parties are reportedly upbeat about Kompany’s chances of assuming this important new post. However, because the former Manchester City player has a contract with the Clarets through 2028, any possible transfer would need a payment.
Kompany’s tenure with the Lancashire club was a mixed bag after managing Anderlecht in Belgium. Despite the setback of Burnley‘s relegation this season, he demonstrated his managerial acumen by guiding the club to a commanding performance in the Sky Bet Championship in 2022-23, where they amassed 101 points and secured promotion to the top flight.
If Kompany does decide to join Bayern, he will have a significant task ahead of him. After a season without a title, the Bavarian club will look to the former Premier League icon to foster a winning attitude.
