Russian soldiers are advancing into northeastern Kharkiv as a ground offensive attack was launched overworking the outstretched Ukrainian military- with the defence ministry alleged to have taken charge of 12 settlements in 7 days.
In a recent report by the Ukrainian police, five civilian were wounded and lots of infrastructure damaged as a result of the Russian shelling attack in Kharkiv.
Two teenagers, a 13-year-old girl and 16-year-old boy are amongst victims of the attack and are currently receiving treatment.
The Russian military ground offensive was launched following a previous airstrikes in Kharkiv on Friday
The airstrikes targeted Ukraine’s second-largest city during the day, injuring 25 people and killing two, as stated by the mayor of Kharkiv Ihor Terkhov.
Ukrainian President Zelensky said Russia could increase its attacks in north eastern part of Ukraine following it recent attacks.
Russian troops have been trying to push forward as Ukraine’s outgunned forces attempt to hold a feeble front line.
Mr. Zelensky opened up stating there were troubles with military personnel and morale, saying a number of existing brigades were vacant.
He further stated that the country’s air fleet was running short and renewed calls for allies to aid with more air defence and fighter jets.
“Today we have about 25% of what we need to defend Ukraine,” Mr Zelensky speaking on Ukraine’s air capabilities.
“So that Russia does not have air superiority, our fleet should have 120 to 130 modern aircraft.”
