Sen Ubah Leads The Senate Ad-hoc Committee To Portharcourt Refinery

The Senator Representing Anambra South Senatorial District, Senator Dr Ifeanyi Ubah, In furtherance of the Nigerian Senate’s efforts to reduce the country’s dependence on imported petroleum products and promote a more efficient and self-sufficient petroleum industry, led the Senate Ad-hoc Committee investigating The Turn Around Maintenance (TAM) Projects of Nigerian Refineries to an oversight visit to Port Harcourt Refinery on April, 2024.

During the tour, which was also attended by officials of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation Limited (NNPCL) led by the Corporation’s Executive Vice-President (Downstream), Mr. Dapo Segun, as well as staff of the Port-Harcourt Refinery led by the Managing Director, Ibrahim M. Onoja, I expressed my appreciation for the continuous progress in the Turn Around Maintenance of the facility.

He further commended the management and staff of the Port Harcourt Refinery for their dedication and hard work in improving the facility and urged them to continue to prioritize safety and environmental sustainability in their operations, as well as to explore more innovative technologies and best practices to enhance the efficiency and productivity of the refinery.

The oversight visit which was followed by a courtesy visit to Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara at the state’s Government House was a valuable opportunity to assess the progress of the TAM projects and to engage with key stakeholders in the petroleum industry.

He said he is very impressed with the level of support that the present federal government under the leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR is providing to ensure timely completion of the projects and he also said he is confident that with the speedy attention the project receives, the level of dependence on imported petroleum products will soon be drastically reduced.
