The Labour Party’s planned national convention, originally scheduled to take place at the International Conference Centre in Umuahia, Abia state, has been relocated to Nnewi in Anambra state, leaving some party members caught off guard.
In a letter dated March 20, signed by the National Chairman of the party, Julius Abure, and the party’s National Secretary, Alhaji Umar Farouk, it was revealed that the new venue for the congress would be the Grand Masons Hotel in Nnewi, Nnewi North LGA, Anambra State. This change of venue was necessary due to the unavailability of the earlier chosen location on the scheduled date.
The sudden shift in venue has caused inconvenience for party members who had already made hotel bookings and payments in Nnewi. However, the statement from the party leadership acknowledged the potential inconveniences and urged members to attend and monitor the congress, which will proceed as planned on Wednesday, March 27, at 10:00 am.
It’s an unexpected turn of events, but hopefully, the convention in Nnewi will be a success for the Labour Party.
