The Imo State Police Command said it has arrested three suspects for allegedly defiling a 12-year-old girl. Police Public Relations Officer, Henry Okoye, who disclosed the arrest in a statement in Owerri, said the command, through painstaking and diligent investigations, arrested three suspects, namely Joseph Onyema, 35, Uzoma Nwanoreze, 30, and Eberechukwu Nwosu, 43.
The statement reads: “Investigation revealed that the suspects had unlawful carnal knowledge of the minor on different occasions, which made her develop serious vaginal injuries as well as a sexually transmitted disease. “The victim is currently receiving intense medical care at the hospital. The suspects will have their day in court upon completion of a discreet investigation. “The Commissioner of Police, Imo State Command, Aboki Danjuma, while condemning the barbaric acts in totality, calls on well-meaning residents of Imo State to support the Police in the onslaught against defilement, rape, and other sexual-related crimes in the State.”
He affirmed that such a societal menace is utterly condemnable and perpetrators will be made to face the wrath of the law.
