Indigenes of Okuama community in Delta state have called on the federal government to carry out a thorough investigation into the sad incident in the community
Last week 16 military personnel who were on a peace mission were killed by some youths of the community. According to the military, there were ambushed by the youths.
Few days later, the military allegedly returned to the community and razed the place down.
Speaking from their hideout, some members of the community claimed that after their peace talks, the military insisted on leaving with the leaders of the community, a request that was vehemently resisted by the community members
Angered by their refusal, the military opened fire killing and injuring many people in the process
They however denied having any hand in the death of the 16 military personnel whose bodies were found in the community.
They welcomed the call for a probe into the incident but begged that it should be devoid of bias so that Nigerians will know what really happened
