The Abia State Command of the National Drugs Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, has called for the setting up of a committee against drug abuse in the state, to support the war against the menace in local governments and rural communities of the state. Abia State Commandant of NDLEA, Mr Adelawa Adetunji made the appeal in Umuahia during his visit to the wife of Abia State Governor, Mrs Pricilla Otti.
The NDLEA Commandant who said that his Command was partnering with the office of the Abia State Governor in eradicating the menace of drug abuse, said that setting up a committee against drug abuse would support the operations of other anti-drug committees in local areas of the state. He commended the wife of the Abia State Governor for her determination to eradicate drug abuse in the state, saying that the partnership between NDLEA and the office of the wife of Abia State Governor, was for the good of the State.
In her remarks, the wife of Abia State Governor, Mrs Pricilla Otti said the Abia State government was determined to eradicate drug abuse in the State, explaining that her office was partnering with the NDLEA to tackle the challenge. Mrs Otti promised that a committee on drugs would be set up to enforce the war against drug abuse in Abia.
She added that a rehabilitation centre would be finished in the state to take care of those saved from drug abuse, and thanked the management and staff of the NDLEA in Abia for their efforts in the reduction of drug abuse in the State
