Hon Patrick Urges Constituents to Preserve Newly Constructed Roads for a Better Onitsha

Sharing is caring

Hon Patrick Okafor, the Member Representing Onitsha North Constituency, is calling on his constituents to take care of the recently completed Akpa-marine-33 express roads. In an interview at his office in the state legislative complex in Awka, he emphasized the importance of preserving these roads.

During a session in the House on March 1st, Hon Patrick moved a motion to commend Governor Prof. Charles Soludo for completing the road. The governor assured that the roads would last for twenty years, and with proper maintenance, they could last even longer.

Hon Patrick urged his constituents to have a positive attitude towards government/public facilities and to follow government directives to create a suitable and livable environment.

Given that Onitsha is a bustling commercial city, Hon Patrick stressed the need for more road construction and rehabilitation to accommodate the high demand for transportation. The Akpa-marine road serves as a vital alternative route for commuters, connecting different areas.

The completion of this road has resolved previous traffic issues, benefiting traders in Onitsha’s Ose and Main markets. Instead of using the 33-Otucha road, traders can easily commute via the Akpa-marine road. Additionally, farmers from riverine areas like Omambala can now use this road to transport their produce to sell in the Onitsha markets.

Furthermore, Hon Patrick called for the construction of a bridge connecting Onitsha and Anambra East and West, highlighting its crucial importance in improving accessibility to Nsugbe and the College of Education.
