Chief Humphrey Anuna, the President General (PG) of Anambra State Markets Amalgamated Traders Association (ASMATA), recently inaugurated the new executives of the United Petrochemical Dealers and Crushers Association of Nigeria. Mr. Onyekachi Nwafor was appointed as the chairman of the association.

During the inauguration at the ASMATA Secretariat, the ASMATA PG urged the newly inaugurated executives to uphold their oath of office and avoid any actions that could bring them into disrepute. He encouraged them to align with Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo’s efforts to restore the markets’ former glory.

The PG emphasized the importance of being each other’s keepers and truthfully advising fellow traders. He emphasized the concept of partnership and progress, echoing the APGA slogan of “Onyeaghana Nwanne ya.”

In his inaugural speech, Chief Nwafor, the new chairman, expressed the association’s commitment to uniting all market members and adhering to government directives. He highlighted the need for a mobile fire service, which they were promised, as well as a permanent site to accommodate all traders.

Addressing allegations of dealing in fake products, Chief Nwafor categorically denied them, clarifying that they sell processed petrochemicals, not counterfeit goods.

Additionally, he assured that any opposition or conflicts within the association would be handled internally. If any case required ASMATA’s attention, he would involve the central body of ASMATA to ensure a fair resolution. He reiterated their support for the government.

While acknowledging the presence of touts in the market, Chief Nwafor expressed their determination to address the issue and maintain a clean and organized market environment.
