Professor Chukwuma Soludo, the Governor of Anambra State, recently inspected the ongoing reconstruction of Odoi market in Onitsha.
During the visit, the Governor, accompanied by Deputy Governor Dr. Onyekachi Ibezim, discovered that the existing buildings were in a dilapidated state, lacking basic amenities such as lighting and toilet facilities.
In response, Governor Soludo took decisive action and ordered the reconstruction of the market, despite opposition from vested interests.
The Governor’s vision has transformed the dilapidated buildings into a modern market, equipped with all the necessary facilities of an international standard.
However, recent developments have raised concerns about the quality of the reconstruction. It is important for the Governor to investigate the responsible parties behind this substandard work and ensure that they take responsibility for their actions.
Additionally, it is crucial to address the issue of compensation for the families affected by this unfortunate situation.
Given that the Governor visited the site during the construction phase, it is evident that the project was not considered illegal at that time. It is now essential to hold those accountable and ensure that justice is served.
