German Champions Bayern Munich have agreed to part ways with Manager Thomas Tuchel at the end of the season.

Tuchel’s position has come under threat following three consecutive defeats in all competitions that have left the German champions eight points behind Bayer Leverkusen in the title race and facing an uphill task to reach the Champions League quarter-finals.

Tuchel replaced Julian Nagelsmann at the German champions in March 2023 on a deal until June 2025.

The former Chelsea boss will depart a year earlier than planned as part of “a sporting realignment” at Bayern.

Bayern’s 11-year grip on the Bundesliga is in danger of ending. However, the former Chelsea boss will remain in charge of the Bavarians until the end of the campaign, as Bayern assess candidates.

Xabi Alonso and Jurgen Klopp have been named as the early frontrunners for the role, with the former having masterminded Leverkusen’s push for a maiden Bundesliga title this season.

The Spaniard’s side are unbeaten across all competitions this season and Liverpool are also targeting the 42-year-old, following the announcement that Jurgen Klopp will step down at Anfield.

This week, Bayern were also linked with former Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane and ex-Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
