Super Eagles striker, Victor Osimhen, said he is not bothered about whether he scores or not as long as the team keeps winning
The Napoli forward said he is placing the Super Eagles’ success above personal glory at the tournament adding that he is even prepared to play in the defence for the team to succeed.
Osimhen has managed to find the back of the net just once in five games in Ivory Coast.
He finished top scorer in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers and is currently the African Footballer of the Year.
The Napoli frontman has tormented opposition defenders with his work rate and physicality but threw away chances.
Speaking after Nigeria’s win against Angola Osimhen said,
I dream of winning the title. The last time was in 2013. I am very happy to win and qualify for the semi-finals,” he said
“I have the mentality that if I do not score, I will go back to defending, and if I score a goal, I will also go back to defending this goal.
