After playing a 1-1 draw against Nigeria in their first match of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, Equatorial Guinea goalkeeper Jesus Owono has been speaking on the secret behind his team’s performance.
Speaking after the match, Owono said his team entered the game without any fear. According to him the Super Eagles boast of very good players who play in big leagues across Europe
Owono who won the Man of The Match Award for his stellar show was quick to boast about his team’s display after the game.
Despite Nigeria’s dominance, Equatorial Guinea scored first in the 36th minute through Iván Salvador, while African Player of The Year, Victor Osimhen, responded for Nigeria immediately.
From then on it was on miss after another as Owono prevented the Nigerian team from picking all three points
Owono said having recorded a good result in their first match, they will be more motivated going into the second game against Equatorial Guinea who were beaten by host nation Ivory Coast in the opening game on Saturday
