Violence Erupts In Delta State As Motorcyclists Protest Killing Of Their Colleagues

There was pandemonium in Asaba and Okayama Motorcycle riders in Asaba and Okayama, located in the Oshimili South and Oshimili North Local Government Areas of Delta State, took to the streets in a show of anger and frustration over the recent deaths of their fellow riders.

Eyewitness said the motorcycle riders storm major roads and markets in anger destroying properties. Businesses around the popular Midwifery market in Okpanam and the Delta State Post Primary Education Board along Sunnis Road Asaba were also attacked by the protesters.

Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, Bright Edafe, confirmed the tragic incident, revealing that two motorcycle riders lost their lives during an enforcement operation carried out by the State Task Force on Sunday.

Providing details of the incident, Edafe shared on his social media platform, “There was a violent protest this morning by Okada riders who had a confrontation last night with the state task force resulting in the loss of two lives.”

The police spokesman also said that some police officers have been deployed to quell the protest.
