Val Ozigbo Foundation Extends Support To Flood Victims In Umueze-Anam

Sharing is caring

Valentine Ozigbo, through his foundation, has made a significant humanitarian visit to internally displaced persons (IDPs) in Umueze-Anam, Anambra West Local Government Area, who have been severely impacted by recent flooding.

During his address at Nkwo Umueze-Anam, Ozigbo expressed deep concern over the devastating impact of the natural disaster on the community. While acknowledging that the relief materials provided by his foundation and other donors may not fully address the community’s needs, he emphasized that the gesture symbolizes solidarity with the affected residents.

“These floods have become an annual challenge that requires more proactive government intervention,” stated Ozigbo. He called on government authorities to enhance their disaster preparedness and response mechanisms, specifically emphasizing the need for better early warning systems and protective measures for vulnerable communities.

The foundation distributed various relief items including:

  • Cartons of noodles
  • Bathing soap
  • Washing soap
  • Detergent
  • Cash support

Chief Sir Sylvester Nnalue, the Labour Party chieftain in Anambra West, highlighted the recurring nature of the flooding and its severe impact on the community. According to community members interviewed, the annual floods have resulted in significant personal and economic losses, leading to various social challenges including youth unemployment and property destruction.

Ozigbo pledged to amplify awareness about the community’s plight, particularly among the Anambra diaspora community, to generate additional support for the affected residents.
