George Moghalu, a former Managing Director of the National Inland Waterways Authority (NIWA), has expressed confidence in his ability to defeat Governor Chukwuma Soludo in the upcoming governorship election in Anambra State on November 8.

After being selected as the Labour Party’s candidate for the Anambra governorship, Moghalu secured 573 votes, surpassing John Nwosu, who received 19 votes during the party’s primary election held on Saturday.

The primary was overseen by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Awka, the capital of Anambra State. Moghalu stated that he is fully prepared to take on the challenges that lie ahead.

His words, “I am ready for the challenge ahead. With my experience in public service and politics, I am confident in my capacity to defeat the incumbent, Governor Chukwuma Soludo of the All Progressives Grand Alliance.’’

In expressing his gratitude to party members for their support, Moghalu urged Nwosu to collaborate with him in the effort to unseat Soludo from the top position in Anambra.

He added: “We must now get to work to sell the LP agenda to the people of Anambra. Our goal is to reach every nook and cranny of the state with our message. Anambra is a blessed state with abundant human and natural resources.

All that is required is visionary leadership to harness these potentials for the benefit of our people. I will restore confidence in the party as we move forward in this race,” he said.

He emphasized that the Labour Party is a significant force and that everyone needs to contribute to ensure a better future for the people of Anambra.
