Otti Approves Bursary Law Students, Upgrades State’s Education Infrastructure

Governor Alex Otti has sanctioned the disbursement of bursary awards to students pursuing legal studies across Abia state. Commissioner for Information and Culture, Okey Kanu, disclosed that the move followed a recent Executive Council meeting held in Umuahia. The commissioner emphasized the state government’s unwavering commitment to education, highlighting the approval for the refurbishment of 170 primary schools, equating to 10 schools per local government area. He added that six model schools were already undergoing renovation, 51 secondary schools are slated for refurbishment, with each local government area receiving attention for three schools. The commissioner disclosed the delisting of several schools in Abia State by the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) due to examination malpractices. Despite expressing disappointment over the situation, the government affirms its commitment to upholding standards and rectifying irregularities within the educational system.
