Osun Police Arrest Commercial Motorcyclist For Alleged Rape And Robbery of OAU Student

The Osun State Police Command have arrested a 29-year-old commercial motorcyclist, Damilare Jacob, for allegedly robbing and raping a student of Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile-Ife.

According to the Command’s spokesperson, Yemisi Opalola, the suspect was arrested after the student reported the incident, which occurred on July 26, 2024.

The victim had engaged Damilare’s services to convey her from Ile-Ife to Moro town, but he diverted into a nearby bush, robbed her of valuables worth N500,000, and forcibly had carnal knowledge of her.

Opalola revealed that Damilare, who is a commercial motorcyclist, allegedly robbed and had forceful carnal knowledge of a student of the Obafemi Awolowo University, OAU, Ile-Ife.

The student, who was not named, had engaged Damilare’s services on Friday, July 26, 2024, at around 7:05 pm.

Damilare was to convey her from Ile-Ife to Moro town but he diverted into a nearby bush.

He robbed the student and after having carnal knowledge of the girl, cut hairs from her pubic area, armpit and head, and threatened to kill her if she dared to report the incident to anyone.

“On the 26th July, 2024 at about 7:05pm, the complainant engaged the service of a commercial motorcyclist (suspect) later known as Damilare Jacob ‘m’ from Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU) Campus, Ile-Ife to Moro town but on getting to RCC junction along Ilesa/Ibadan Expressway, Ile-Ife, the suspect diverted into a nearby bush and he robbed her of the following items; (1) iPhone XS Max valued three hundred and twenty thousand naira (N320,000.00k), (2) One Samsung Galaxy A71 valued one hundred and fifty thousand naira (N150,000.00k), (3) Airtel Wi-Fi valued ten thousand naira (N10,000.00k) with the cash sum of twenty thousand naira (N20,000.00k) and forcefully had carnal knowledge of her without her consent.

He also cut her pubic, armpit, and head hair, threatening to kill her if she reported the incident.

The suspect has confessed to the crime and will be charged to court at the conclusion of the investigation.

The victim has received medical attention at the Police hospital in Osogbo.
