The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC and the Public Complaints Commission, PCC have restated their resolve to strengthen and deepen the existing relationship between them on dispute resolution in Anambra State.
This pact was cemented on Wednesday 20th of November 2024 when the State Commandant of NSCDC Anambra State Command, Maku Olatunde received in audience the newly appointed Honourable Federal Commissioner, Public Complaints Commission, Anambra State, Hon. Emmanuel Okechukwu Muoka, along with ther Management team of the Commission on a courtesy visit at the NSCDC State Command Headquarters Awka.
Comdt. Maku appreciated the Honourable Federal Commissioner and his team for the visit pledging to assist the Commission in actualizing its mandate in the state.
He promised to work with the Nigerian Ombudsman in conflict resolution and in performing their role of redressing complaints lodged by aggrieved citizens or residents against administrative and social injustice.
“‘We value public opinion on what we do as Civil defenders, in most cases where there are wrong narratives on our activities and actions by the populace or media, the Public Complaints Commission consistently provided a supportive presence for us” he said.
Earlier, the Honourable Federal Commissioner, Public Complaint Commission, Anambra State; Emmanuel Muoka informed the State Commandant that the purpose of the visit was to solicit for collaboration in the course of carrying out the commission’s mandate in grievance – handling from aggrevied person(s) who had suffered any form of administrative injustice.
Commending the NSCDC for performing excellently in the protection of Critical National State and Local Government Assets and Infrastructure, The Federal Commissioner chronicled the roles and functions of Public Complaints Commission and call on Anambra Citizens to embrace the use of alternative Dispute Resolution in resolving dispute and conflict.
He promised to solidify collaboration with the NSCDC in tackling complaints from aggrieved person (s) promising to speedily treat, and dispense justice on any complaints brought to his office.
According to him, with a strong synergy between the two agencies, the Commission aims through prompt action to alleviate suffering, calm tensions, and provide a sense of justice to those impacted, ultimately fostering a more harmonious environment.
The visit ended with both agencies agreeing to synergize in administering and delivering of quality services to the Public.
