Nancy Isime Reacts to Backlash Over Hijab Movie

Sharing is caring

Actress Nancy Isime has responded to the controversy surrounding her upcoming movie, where she wears a hijab and portrays a character wielding a gun.

The movie has sparked outrage among some Muslims, who deem the portrayal as disrespectful to Islam.

Isime shared a collage on social media, expressing her feelings and prioritizing her personal peace. She stated that she doesn’t take criticisms personally and is more concerned about her inner peace.

The National Film and Video Censors Board (NFVCB) has also intervened, contacting the movie producers to address concerns raised by the Muslim community.

The board warned against releasing movies or skits that might negatively portray the hijab, emphasizing its importance as a symbol of respect, modesty, and religious devotion.

Isime’s response comes after Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC) kicked against the movie, and the NFVCB moved to block its release.

The controversy highlights the sensitivity of portraying religious symbols in media and the need for respectful representation.
