Sharing is caring

George Turner, a Chieftain of People’s Democratic Party has called on President Bola Tinubu to come to his aid stating that his life is now under threat.

In a letter he personally signed on Tuesday and addressed to the President through Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, the National Security Adviser, of Nigeria, Turner who is said he is the Zonal Secretary PDP, South, drew the attention of the president to a Facebook post accredited to one Jonah Paebi who wrote that George Turned will soon be a thing of the past.

George Turner stated that as a result of the threat, he and his family have moved out of their residential abode and moved into a hotel stating that he can’t foot the expensive bills again.

The open letter reads “I am Writing to bring to your urgent attention to a serious matter concerning my safety and well-being following an ideological disagreement with Governor Diri regarding his
involvement in the plot to form a Coalition Political Party ahead of the 2027 Elections.

“Unfortunately, since redirecting my loyalty towards the FCT Minister and my plan to organize this rally, I
have faced threats to my life from loyalists of His Excellency, Governor Douye Diri to the
extent that one of Governor Diri’s supporters, Jonah Paebi, openly boasted in a Facebook
post that my actions were a “death trap,” stating that people should watch how George Turnah will soon be a thing of the past.

“This is a clear indication of an assassination plot by the Diri administration, especially since the administration has not condemned such a good statement by a supporter.

“Since these threatening events, my family and I have moved out of our home in Yenagoa and are currently taking refuge in an undisclosed hotel. We do not have the financial
capacity to sustain this lifestyle or afford the services of security guards.

“The situation is also taking a toll on the mental health of my wife and children. Therefore, I urgently appeal for your intervention and protection for myself and my family.

“Given the current political climate and increasing tension within our party dynamics, I respectfully urge you to take appropriate measures to ensure my safety and the safety of those who stand with me. It is of utmost importance that leaders can express their beliefs
without the fear of intimidation or violence.

“Until February 14, 2025, I served as the Executive Assistant on Public Affairs & Social Orientation to the Governor of Bayelsa State, Douye Diri. I believe it is crucial for the Southern part of Nigeria to be allowed a full term of the
presidency, as was the case with President Muhammadu Buhari.

“In line with my new Political alignment with the FCT Minister, H.E Nyesom Wike CON, we
have scheduled the Inauguration of the Bayelsa Chapter of a grassroot-based Pro-Tinubu movement, The NEW Associates, along with a mega rally in solidarity and appreciation of your developmental strides in Bayelsa State and the Niger Delta. This event will also
celebrate the appointment of notable sons and daughters into positions of trust and is scheduled for Saturday, April 12, 2025.

“However, on March 28, 2025, His Excellency Governor Douye Diri of Bayelsa State publicly called me out during both the State Security Council and Elders Council Meetings, labeling me an enemy of the State and the Ijaw Nation for proposing a rally to honour Mr. President and the FCT Minister on Ijaw soil.

“He claimed that this rally was inappropriate because of
Mr. President’s recent Proclamation of State of Emergency which saw the suspension of an Ijaw Governor from office in Rivers State and further alleged that the FCT Minister had insulted Ijaw people, thus Suggesting he should not visit, be hosted or honoured in Bayelsa State. To clarify this Situation, I addressed a press conference to affirm my commitment to Supporting Mr. President’s vision for Bayelsa State and the Ijaw Nation.

“I appreciate your attention to this critical issue and trust in your commitment to upholding
democratic values and the rights of every citizen.Thank you for your time and consideration.” The letter concluded.

Echezona Okafor.
