Liverpool forward and Portuguese footballer, Diogo Jota, has reportedly died in a car accident.
Diogo Jota, who has been enjoying his break in Spain after helping Liverpool to win the 2024-2025 Premier League title, reportedly lost his life in the early hours of today, July 3, aged 28.
The ghastly car accident happened at kilometre 65 of the A-52 highway, near the town of Palacios de Sanabria in the province of Zamora.
Jota was reportedly travelling with his younger brother, André, a 26-year-old also involved in professional football, when their car veered off the road and erupted into flames. Andre also died as a result.
According to reports, the vehicle caught fire upon impact, and the flames quickly spread to the surrounding vegetation, making rescue efforts difficult.
Emergency services were alerted by eyewitnesses who described the scene as horrific.
