Security has been beefed up around the Edo State House of Assembly. This comes a day after members of the house served an impeachment notice on the State Deputy Governor, Phillip Shaibu.
According to the House, the Deputy Governor has seven days to respond to the notice.
Meanwhile, members of the Edo State Security Networks, ESSN, armed with guns took over the front of the house and its surroundings in a move to forestall any unforeseen attack and invasion of the house by suspected hoodlums.
As of yesterday, staff of the House were being screened as well as their vehicles by the security personnel of the House and anyone with proof of identification was denied access to the premises of the House.
Some personnel of the Edo State Security Network and those of the House of Assembly were at the entrance gate to enforce the “No ID entrance order.
Shaibu was served an impeachment notice by the House over allegations of perjury and revealing of state secrets.
The relationship between Shaibu and the governor has been very frosty which according to Shaibu was because of his political ambition
