Imo State’s Commissioner for Transport, Dr. Chika Abazu, recently held a pivotal meeting with key stakeholders from Abuja concerning the implementation of the “CNG Initiative.” This program aims to convert petrol-powered vehicles to Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) engines, reducing transportation costs and cutting environmental emissions.

The delegation, led by Mr. Michael Oluwagbemi, Chairman of the Presidential CNG Initiative, and Mr. Obi Ugochukwu, Co-Chairman of the Climate Change Working Group, outlined plans for an upcoming visit to Imo State. During their visit, they intend to engage local stakeholders and finalize preparations for the initiative’s launch.

The Federal Team emphasized their commitment to ensuring a smooth implementation process, helping Imo State maximize the benefits of CNG technology.

In his remarks, Dr. Abazu noted that the discussions focused on fine-tuning the details for launching the CNG initiative in line with Governor Hope Uzodimma’s 3R agenda. The initiative, according to the Commissioner, is expected to boost sustainable transportation, stimulate economic growth, and safeguard the environment for future generations.

Dr. Abazu further assured that the state government is fully prepared to adopt this transformative project, viewing it as a critical step toward providing more affordable transportation options for Imo residents.
