In a coordinated effort, the Anti-Kidnapping Unit of the Imo State Police Command, working alongside other security agencies, successfully raided a notorious terrorist camp located in the Ezioha forest, Mbaitoli Local Government Area of Imo State.

During the operation, multiple kidnap victims, including a 69-year-old traditional ruler from the Umuorji Mgbidi community in Oru West Local Government Area, were rescued. The successful mission was confirmed by the Police Command’s Public Relations Officer, Henry Okoye, in a statement released on Friday.

Okoye revealed that the gang’s leader, responsible for orchestrating numerous kidnappings across the state, was neutralized during a fierce gun battle with security operatives. Other members of the gang fled the scene, some sustaining gunshot wounds.

In addition to the rescue of the traditional ruler, a couple and several other abducted individuals were freed. Security forces also recovered various items from the camp, including multiple vehicles, a pump-action gun, 10 live cartridges, four locally made explosives, a Biafra flag, and native bulletproof gear, among other items.
