Gunmen Kidnap Over 20 Medical Students And House Officer In Benue State

“Tragedy struck on Friday evening when a group of medical and dental students from the University of Maiduguri and University of Jos were ambushed and kidnapped by gunmen in Benue State.

The students, who were traveling together to attend the Federation of Catholic Medical and Dental Students (FECAMDS) annual convention in Enugu, were attacked around 5:30 pm in the Otukpo area.

According to reports, over 20 students and a House Officer, identified as Dr. Louis, were taken captive by the gunmen.

The Benue State Police Command has confirmed the incident, sparking widespread concern for the safety of the abducted students.

A medical field watchdog, @Nigerian_Doctor, has appealed to security agencies to intervene urgently and rescue the students.

The group expressed deep concern for the families of the victims and urged swift action to ensure their safe release.

The incident has sent shockwaves through the medical community, highlighting the growing insecurity and risk faced by students and healthcare professionals in Nigeria.”
