Gov. Uzodimma Honors Late Justice Ogwuegbu As A Legal Icon And Imo’s Gift To Nigeria

Imo State Governor, Senator Hope Uzodimma, has described the late Justice Emmanuel Ogwuegbu as a remarkable legal luminary and one of Imo State’s greatest contributions to Nigeria.

Justice Ogwuegbu, who left an indelible mark on the judiciary over a career spanning more than five decades, retired from the Supreme Court of Nigeria, where he served between 1992 and 2003. He hailed from Amainyi in Ihitte-Uboma Local Government Area of Imo State and passed away at the age of 91.

In a statement issued by Oguwike Nwachuku, Chief Press Secretary/Special Adviser on Media to the Governor, Uzodimma expressed deep sorrow over the loss. He praised Justice Ogwuegbu as a distinguished Nigerian legal icon and a proud ambassador of Imo State, whose absence will be profoundly felt.

The Governor noted that Justice Ogwuegbu’s life and career exemplified excellence, integrity, and an unwavering commitment to justice and the rule of law. He further acknowledged the late jurist’s legacy of mentoring exceptional legal minds and contributing to the growth of Nigeria’s judiciary.

On behalf of his family, the government, and the people of Imo State, Governor Uzodimma extended his heartfelt condolences to Justice Ogwuegbu’s family, the Chief Justice of Nigeria, and the entire judiciary. He prayed for divine strength and comfort for all those mourning the loss, while also asking God to grant the departed jurist eternal rest.
