Manchester United Legend Wayne Rooney, has predicted that Aston Villa and Spurs would finish above his former club.
Rooney was speaking on TNT Sports, after the Red Devils beat Everton 2-0 at Old Trafford on Saturday
The win means United remain in sixth place, with Aston Villa and Tottenham occupying fourth and fifth positions respectively.
Rooney believes Villa and Spurs have the advantage in the race for Champions League places.
He said: “I don’t think Manchester United will make the top four, because they have to almost win every game.
“I think they’re a team that are very inconsistent and I can’t see them winning every game, so I think it’s going to be very difficult.
“Today I think it was 20-odd chances against them, but there were no clear-cut chances for Everton. But it’s too many. There’s too many gaps, it’s too easy for teams to get opportunities against them.”
Rooney who captained United also played for Everton before retiring from football and has since started life as a manager though he is currently unattached to any club
