Enugu Govt Proposed Produce City Not RUGA –  Nnaji

Sharing is caring

As controversies continue to rage in Enugu State over the proposed Produce City by Enugu State government, a prominent indigene of the state, Alhaji Sani Nnaji has dispelled the fear that it is a decoy for the establishment of RUGA in the State.

Ever since the Enugu State muted the idea, it has faced stiff resistance from several groups and communities.

Notable among them are the International Society for Rule of Law, Intersociety, the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, the Nsukka Zone Elders Forum, among others.

Nsukka Zone Elders has specifically advised the Governor of the State, Barr Peter Mbah against taking steps that could worsen the security situation in the state.

Nnaji, who is the Chief Executive Officer of Ugwuanama Farms Ltd, said that some individuals had gone to social media to misinform the people.

He described peddlers of such rumours as blackmailers.

He said that nowhere did the state government mention livestock or anything close to RUGA.

He said: “We are aware of all sorts of misinformation, innuendoes and sometimes blackmails, particularly in the social media, probably because of our religious background, with some people postulating that what we are trying to do is to enthrone RUGA in the state, but I can tell you that all that are false and cheap blackmail and nativity.

“We have decided to refrain from joining issues from certain individuals and groups on social media.

“What we are doing is essentially crop production. So for those that are well informed, they should know that what we are doing is crop production.”

He said the state government should be supported to embark on a large scale.
