The recently kidnapped community leader in Anambra State, High Chief Ezebinobi Chimame Ezigbo, has regained his freedom.
Chief Ezigbo, who is the President General of Abatete Community in Idemili North Local Government Area of Anambra State, was kidnapped in the late hours of Tuesday, September 17 at his house, by yet-to-be-identified gunmen who trailed him from a destination; just few hours after a member of the community, Dr. Law Mefor, was appointed and sworn-in as the state’s new Commissioner for Information by Governor Chukwuma Soludo.
However, information reaching us has it that the kidnapped PG has regained his freedom, and safely returned to his home today, Wednesday.
This was corroborated by a video currently trending on social media, showing the PG thanking God for his safety, while also heartily appreciating the members and stakeholders of the community for their concerns, solidarity, and prayers for him during the time he was in the hands of his captors.
Although, it could not be ascertained if any ransom was paid for the Chief Ezigbo’s freedom as at the time of filing this report; the PG, who was flanked in the video by an arm-bearing man believed to be a security man, also reassured that he and other stakeholders would sustain the good and transformative works that are ongoing in the community, and “cannot succumb to fear.”
