.Says APGA Does Not Need Rigging To Win Elections in Anambra
The National Chairman of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, Barr. Sylvester Ezeokenwa has boasted that
his party does not need to rig in upcoming Anambra State LGA Elections billed for September 28,2024 to emerge victorious in the polls.
Addressing party members at Onitsha South Local Government OSLGA Secretariat during the flag off campaign for OSLGA chairmanship candidate of the party Chief Emeka Orji, his running mate, Hon Onyebuchi Obi and councillorship candidates of the 17 wards in the council area, Ezeokenwa said that APGA has all it takes to clinch the chairmanship of Onitsha South which he described as APGA dominated LGA including the 17 wards, despite oppositions’.
Handing over the party flag to Emeka Orji who is currently serving as the TC Chairman OSLGA to Ezeokenwa declared: “we know the deep commitments and sacrifices we have made to APGA and we will uphold it to the end as we start our journey with 17 over 17 in Onitsha South which is APGA controlled council area and I must reemphasize once again that APGA will not rig election for anyone”.
“APGA as a party has done so well in Anambra State. Governor Chukwuma Soludo’ has also surpassed his predecessors both from APGA and other political party that led the state in every ramifications. APGA led administrations has achieved a lot in the state and these achievements speak for themselves”.
“Election rigging is old fashioned, outdated and outlawed. APGA party do not need to rig elections to win. We would never rig election for any candidate, neither would our party allow other political parties to rig for their own candidates in the forthcoming LG Elections.
In their various solidarity speeches, Sir Peter Okala, State Director of Campaign, Anambra State Markets Amalgamated Traders Association, ASMATA APGA Support Group, AASG, expressed optimism that Emeka Orji would win the chairmanship election because of his quality leadership so sar as the incumbent chairman of Onitsha South Local Government Transition Committee.
Others who spoke in favour of APGA as a party and Orji as a person included Chinedu Ezekwike, Chairman of Bridge-head market traders caretaker committee; Chief Emmanuel Idoko, Chairman, Haruna Street Traders Association; Chief Bonaventure Muo, Chairman of Ochanja Central Market, Chief Mike Okigbo (Onwa Ojoto), a businessman; Chief Daniel Okafor, President, Onitsha Sportsmen Club, Chief Okwudili Obinwanne, Caretaker Committee Catholic Landlords Association, Onitsha South council area and Hon. Afam Udeogalanya, Presdent-,General, PG, Housing Estate Landlords Association, Fegge, Onitsha
Chairman of the Fegge Landlords Association, Chief Okwudili Obinwanne said d that Mr. Orji has performed wonderfully well as Transition Committee Chairman. “He has done marvelously well on security and infrastructure. Onitsha was a den of robbers and dirt before now, but today it looks gorgeous. In reality, there is no genuine opposition here. Those perceived as opposition are, in fact, well-wishers of Emeka, indirectly. While they may be misunderstood as opposition, they are not. Mr. Orji is a good market that sells itself”, he said.
Also, an Industrialist, Chief Michael Okigbo described Orji as a civilized person who has spent many years abroad and his positive impact to the well-being of Onitsha residents and the environment is a welcome development saying that Orji has done well both in security, assured that he would do better if elected and stated that he believes that onitsha would be more cleaner as it is.
According to President of Onitsha Sports Club, Chief Olisa Okafor, Emeka has been in London for years, he is a sportsman and we grew up together, somebody who has traveled a lot would like to attract some good things to his area to fit his lifestyle. Everyone should vote for Chief Orji because he did marvelously as a transition committee chairman.
The President General of Fegge Housing Estate and APGA Deputy Chairman, OSLGA,Chief Afam Udogalanya declared that Chief Orji acceptance by many people is as a result of his achievements as the TC chairman, who transformed fegge to what it is today urging him to procure a fire service vehicle in Onitsha South as his first priority if elected.
The Onitsha South Youth Leader who doubles as the Anambra North Senatorial Zone APGA Youth leader, Comrade Ndubuisi Nwanyanwu lauded Chief Orji for the development he has attracted in the area so far, stated that the youths are ready to garner more votes for him come Sept 28, LG election.
However, The Chairman, Anambra State Market Amalgamated Traders, Association (ASMATA) Soludo Support Group, Chief Peter Okala lauded Governor Soludo for the massive developmental strides he has done in the state so far , urged the Igbos to follow him for his good leadership.
Speaking to Newsmen, the Market Chairman of Sokoto Road, Chief Emeka Mbachu stated that Chief Orji deserved to be elected because of his good relationship with the traders.
He noted that the infrastructural developments Chief Orji has attracted so far in Onitsha South are enough for his continuity, stated that he would emerge winner for being tested and trusted.
In the same view, the Chairman of Haruna Market, Chief Emmanuel Idoko applauded Chief Orji for the project attracted so far in Onitsha South indicating that the area is the most benefitted LG in Governor Soludo’s led administration.
