The Principal of Girls Secondary School Awka Dr.Mrs.Ndidi Okeke has paid glowing tribute to Governor Chukwuma Soludo for appreciating workers through his approval of their seventy thousand naira minimum wage effective from October this year.
Dr.Okeke in a press statement in Awka applauded the governor’s worker friendliness,expecting that in due course,the minimum wage bar will be raised to take workers home comfortably.
The principal further appreciated the governor for announcing a free education package for school children from the nursery cadre to the SS3 cadre, a gesture she believes will ease the burden on parents in the state.
She further used the forum to appreciate the role of teachers in the society ahead of this year’s world teachers day,expecting that their welfare be enhanced to sustain their dedication to their teaching vocation.
Dr.Okeke also spoke on the independence day anniversary march past during which her school was announced 3rd in the event which is a clear departure from its consecutive first position three wins recorded at past march past events.
The principal accepted the result in the spirit of sportsmanship,expressing the determination of her administration to sustain what the college knows how to do best.
In another development, the Principal of Comprehensive And Technical College Nawfia Venerable Dr.Nnamdi Emendu eulogized Governor Soludo for his worker/ education friendliness which manifested in his laudable policy thrust in favour of approving the minimum wage for workers effective from October this month,and for making education free from the nursery cadre to the SS3 cadre.
Venerable Emendu expects that the minimum wage be raised in due course in view of the harsh economic realities in the country.
On the October 5th world teachers day, the Principal appreciated the role of teachers as character moulders and formators of the future generation of leaders, urging that the state government should prioritize the building of teachers quarters within the school premises for effective supervision.
On his part,a community leader from Umuawulu Barrister Chike Oranye appreciated governor Soludo for putting smiles on the faces of workers in the state work force,expecting that in due course, the minimum wage will be increased to match the harsh economic realities in the country.
