A former Deputy Clerk of the National Assembly, Dr Olaide Adelami, has been sworn in as the Ondo State Deputy Governor.
Adelami was picked by the state governor, Mr Lucky Aiyedatiwa as the deputy governor after which his name was sent to the state House of Assembly for screening and ratification.
At a ceremony held at the International Culture and Event Centre, Akure on Thursday, the new deputy governor was sworn in by the Chief Judge of the state, Justice Olusegun Odusola.
His appointment follows the elevation of Aiyedatiwa to the position of governor following the death of Governor Rotimi Akeredolu
Akeredolu died in December last year after a protracted illness
Last month the family of the former governor revealed said he would be buried on February 23 in Owo Local Government Area of the state.
A statement obtained from the Facebook profile of the spokesperson of the ex-Governor, Richard Olatunde revealed that the funeral arrangements will commence on Thursday, February 15, 2024 and will end with a thanksgiving service at St Andrews Church, Imola Street, Owo on Sunday, February 25.
Akeredolu who became governor on February 2017 died on December 27, 2023 after battling with prostate cancer for several months.
