The Anambra State Police Command has announced plans to host a Christmas Carol of Nine Lessons and an End-of-Year Party as part of activities marking the 2025 yuletide season.
This was disclosed in a statement issued on Monday, December 22, by the Police Public Relations Officer of the Command, SP Ikenga Tochukwu, who further disclosed that the event, themed “Policing: A Shared Responsibility,” is scheduled to hold on Tuesday, December 23, by 5:00pm at Vertex View Hall, Nibo, Awka South.
According to the PPRO, the programme, which is aimed at deepening police–community partnership and reinforcing the collective responsibility of policing in the state, is expected to bring together Ndi Anambra from different walks of life, security stakeholders, community leaders, traditional institutions and other critical partners across the state, as well as serve an atmosphere for reflection, celebration and renewed commitment to public safety during the festive season.
SP Ikenga noted that the State Commissioner of Police, CP Ikioye Orutugu fwc MNIPS PhD, explained that the Christmas Carol and end-of-year gathering is not only a ceremonial event, but a deliberate platform to strengthen trust, unity and collaboration between the Police and residents of Anambra State.
He quoted the CP as stressing the Command’s consideration of policing as a shared responsibility that thrives best when citizens actively support security agencies through cooperation, timely information sharing and adherence to the rule of law. He added that the event would also serve as an opportunity to appreciate Ndi Anambra and other stakeholders for their sustained support and partnership throughout the year, which significantly contributed to the relative peace and stability recorded across the state.
The Command further in the statement called on residents to renew their commitment to sustaining the prevailing security atmosphere, especially during the yuletide and as the state prepares to enter the year 2026.
While reassuring Ndi Anambra of the Command’s dedication to protect lives and property, SP Ikenga also urged members of the public to remain vigilant, law-abiding and supportive of ongoing security efforts in their respective communities.
