A group of youths in Lagos State successfully thwarted an attempted kidnapping of a car dealer on Ebute Igbogbo Road in Ikorodu Local Government Area on Tuesday.
The suspects, identified as Taiwo Olayinka, Azeez Sodiq, and Saheed Moonstruck, were arrested by the Lagos State Police Command and are currently in custody.
A viral video showed the three suspects stripped naked being questioned and beaten by the youths who caught them after the failed kidnap attempt.
The police command’s Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed the suspects’ arrest and stated that an investigation is underway to determine the exact nature of their crimes.
The suspects are believed to be either thieves or kidnappers, and efforts are ongoing to arrest the two remaining suspects who escaped.
This incident is the latest in a series of kidnapping attempts in Lagos State, highlighting the need for continued vigilance and community involvement in preventing crime.
In a similar incident in July, residents of Okoba Street in Orile-Agege foiled another kidnapping attempt by four armed men, who had previously robbed a pharmacy on a nearby Street.
The residents prevented the suspects from kidnapping the store owner, demonstrating the power of community action in preventing crime.
