Word AIDS Day: ANSACA Holds Road Walk, Vows To End Mother To Child Transmission

As part of activities to commemorate the 2024 World AIDS Day, the Anambra State government through the State AIDS Control Agency (ANSACA) has held a sensitization road walk in Awka metropolis to create awareness about the disease.

Speaking to the ABS, the Commissioner for Health, Dr. Afam Obidike said that Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s administration is determined to eradicate the prevalence of the disease in the state through efficient and effective awareness creation, provision of HIV free testing centers among others, saying that government wants to end mother to child transmission in the state.

The Executive Director, Anambra State AIDS Control Agency, Mr. Johnbosco Ementa explained that the event which is a weeklong celebration was designed to remember those who have died as a result of the disease as well as those living with it, urging people to end discrimination of against those living with HIV, even as he revealed that the agency has made provision for free HIV screening in State Secretariat, Aroma junction, UNIZIK junction, Eke Awka market among numerous others.

Earlier the Commissioner for Health and the sensitization team Urge citizens to queue into the exercise.
