Former Governor Of Imo State, Senator Rochas Okorocha has drummed more support and better treatment for women in the Nigerian political arrangement.

“Women deserve more respect, recognition and empowerment if society must advance”

Those were the words of the founder of Imo Rescue Mission who against many odds, defeated former incumbent governor, Ikedi Ohakim at the 2011 governorship election to the excitement of majority of Imo citizens, during a chat with journalist shortly after the end of activities on the second day of the five-day summit tagged the “The Power of An Inspired Woman” held at Rochas Foundation College of Africa.

Okorocha bared his mind at the event organised by Women of Divine Destiny Initiative (WODDI), a Non-governmental Organisation Founded by his wife, Her Excellency, Dr. Nkechi Okorocha who co-hosted the event with Imo State First Lady, Her Excellency, Barr. Chioma Uzodimma with wives of former governors in attendance.

Okorocha who declared unflinching support for his wife in hosting the event earlier while addressing the guests in a fiery seven and half minute speech, affirmed that every successful man owes his success to his wife.

Asked whether he was encouraging women to take over power from men in 2027, Okorocha replied, “If that is what will make Nigeria better, so be it, you can count me in”
