Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has stated that he will not reconcile with Governor Sim Fubara of Rivers State, despite efforts by President Bola Tinubu and other stakeholders to resolve the crisis between them.
Wike, who marked his one year in office as FCT Minister, emphasized that he is focused on delivering President Tinubu’s mandate and will not support Fubara.
The two have been at odds since Fubara assumed office, leading to factions in the state House of Assembly.
Wike expressed no regrets over his initial support for Fubara’s governorship bid, but stated that he will not go back on his decision.
He cited the example of Aregbesola, who was brought into politics by Tinubu but is no longer with the president, to illustrate that political relationships can change.
Wike’s stance indicates that the crisis between him and Fubara will continue, despite attempts at reconciliation.
The minister’s focus on his mandate in the FCT suggests that he will prioritize his duties in the capital territory over resolving the issue with Fubara.
