A 20-year-old newlywed, Aisha Aliyu of Nasarawa village in Lapai Local Government Area of Niger State has reportedly killed her husband, Idris Ahmadu.
The incident occurred in the early hours of Monday.
The Niger State Police command through the Public Relations Officer, DSP Wasiu Abiodun, who confirmed the incident in Minna said Aisha Aliyu stabbed her husband to death and disappeared from the scene..
“Before the arrival of the police at the scene, the suspect had fled to an unknown destination; effort is being intensified to arrest the fleeing suspect.”
He disclosed that the case is currently under investigation.
A source from the area said before the incident, the newly married couple had a minor argument on Sunday evening after which they reconciled before going to bed.
According to the source, at midnight, the mother of the deceased heard him screaming and rushed out alongside other residents only to find him in his pool of blood on the floor while his wife was nowhere to be found.
It was further gathered that the couple got married on December 31, 2023, after dating for some years.
Unconfirmed reports say Aisha had met another man and decided not to marry Idris but was prevailed upon by family members.
