Distinguished business leader and Labour Party Chieftain, Mr Valentine Ozigbo, today attended a momentous ceremony at the military cantonment in Onitsha to celebrate the promotion and decoration of Major Victor Okwudilichukwu Muodi to the rank of Lieutenant Colonel.
The ceremony, which was graced by the President of the Mess Committee, Commanding Officer, senior officers, and other distinguished guests, saw Mr Ozigbo attend as a guest of honour to witness this significant milestone in Lt Col Muodi’s military career.
During the ceremony, commanding officers shared heartfelt testimonials about Lt Col Muodi’s journey in service. One senior officer recounted their first encounter at the Nigerian Defence Academy, highlighting how he had witnessed Lt Col Muodi’s growth throughout his career. The officer praised Muodi’s reliability and discipline, noting that while his subordinates often regard him as strict, these traits have proven instrumental in his advancement.
Several speakers at the event emphasised the weightiness of the new position, advising Lt Col Muodi to prepare for increased responsibilities while commending him for earning this well-deserved promotion through dedication and hard work.
In his acceptance speech, Lt Col Muodi expressed profound gratitude for the mentorship he has received throughout his military service. He spoke movingly about his family’s unwavering support, acknowledging them as his foundation. The newly promoted officer also offered words of encouragement to fellow officers at various stages of their careers, emphasising that hard work and discipline are crucial elements for success. He attributed his achievement to divine intervention, thanking God for His guidance throughout his journey.
Mr Ozigbo, founder of The VCO Foundation and former gubernatorial candidate in the 2021 Anambra State election, congratulated Lt Col Muodi and encouraged him to maintain his exemplary standards. Speaking to the general public, Mr Ozigbo highlighted the significance of Lt Col Muodi’s emphasis on mentorship, stating, “With great leadership comes great service. Lt Col Muodi’s recognition of the value of mentorship in his journey reinforces the importance of strong leadership in shaping successful careers.”
