Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has confirmed that influential midfielder Kevin De Bruyne will remain at the club, despite being linked to a summer move to Saudi Arabia.
De Bruyne, who has one year left on his contract, had previously expressed interest in considering an offer from the Saudi Pro-League due to the “incredible money” available. However, Guardiola is unconcerned, stating “Kevin isn’t leaving”.
Meanwhile, Crystal Palace’s Eberechi Eze has been linked with a move to Manchester City, while Brazil goalkeeper Ederson has also been the subject of interest from Saudi Arabia.
Guardiola believes it is likely that the squad will remain the same as last season, stating “I think there is an 85, 90, 95% chance we will have the same squad”. However, he hasn’t ruled out new players, saying “If someone leaves, we are going to talk about that and, of course, until the last day [of the transfer window] we have chances”.
Manchester City will begin their Premier League title defence at Chelsea on August 18.
