In a heartfelt and passionate statement, presidential candidate Peter Obi has taken Bola Tinubu to task for heading off to Saint Lucia for a personal holiday while Nigerians are suffering with unprecedented hardships.
Obi, clearly frustrated, expressed:
“I’m at a loss trying to comprehend what’s happening to governance in this country… Nigerians are facing hunger, insecurity, and uncertainty about their next meal, yet the President finds time to go abroad for enjoyment?”
He highlighted the tragic situation in Minna, Niger State, where over 200 lives have been lost and 700 people are still unaccounted for due to devastating floods. Despite this crisis, Tinubu chose not to visit — instead, he opted for a vacation in an island nation that’s ten times smaller than Minna and has half the population of Makurdi.
Obi challenged the President’s priorities, stating:
“A President should be pleading with God for more hours in the day to address this crisis — not planning luxury trips while citizens suffer and d!e.”
He accused the Tinubu administration of focusing on the 2027 elections and catering to the elite, while millions of Nigerians endure their struggles in silence.
“This drift must end before it engulfs us all. The resources of this country belong to everyone — not just a privileged few,” Obi concluded.
