Super Eagles Players Want Peseiro To Remain As Coach

Players in the Super Eagles squad are in support of Jose Peseiro continuing as head coach of the team.

Peseiro is currently out of contract with the Nigeria Football Federation, NFF, since February 29.

However, there is no official announcement from the NFF, despite the Portuguese tactician taking to his social media to confirm the expiration of his short-term deal.

There have been speculations that the NFF technical director, Augustine Eguavoen, will assume the role of interim manager.

Other former Nigeria internationals like Emmanuel Amuneke, Finidi George and Samson Siasia have been linked with the role.

But despite these rumours, it is understood the players still prefer Peseiro, who led them to the final of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, and are opposed to the appointment of a local coach.
