South East Monarchs Renew Call For Peace, Security In Region

The South-East’s traditional leaders have once more urged the region to be united, secure, and peaceful.

The call was made by the monarchs during their Tuesday meeting in the capital of Abia State, Umuahia.

The Obi of Onitsha, Igwe Nnaemeka Achebe, and other prominent traditional leaders from the South East attended the summit, which served as a forum for discussion on issues impacting the area and future directions.

The monarchs highlighted that peace, progress and unity were crucial in advancing development in the South East and decried the degree of insecurity in the zone.

Speaking at the function, the chairman of the Imo State council of Ndi Eze, Eze E.C. Okeke, and his counterpart from Abia State, Eze Linus Nto Mba, praised Abia State Governor Alex Otti for the development and peace initiatives his administration had started as well as the friendly ties between the state’s executive branch and traditional institutions.
