Soludo’s Remarkable Efforts in Providing Palliative Support

Sharing is caring

Professor Chukwuma Charles Soludo’s tenure as Governor of Anambra State has been characterized by a series of proactive initiatives, painting a promising picture of a thriving and prosperous future for the state.

Under his administration, a comprehensive approach has been taken, focusing on security, infrastructure, economic transformation, human capital development, governance reforms, and a sustainable environment.

While the nation faces economic challenges, Governor Soludo has shown a deep commitment to easing the burdens faced by his people.

Recognizing the impact of rising fuel costs, Governor Soludo proactively addressed the shortfall by personally shouldering the remaining N960 million loan repayment, out of the N2 billion received from the N5 billion palliative fund promised by President Tinubu. This fund was a loan to the State Government, which they will pay back.

In a move applauded by public servants, Governor Soludo implemented a 10% salary increase in January 2023, demonstrating his dedication to supporting civil servants. This increase amounted to an annual expense of N1.8 billion.

To alleviate the effects of fuel subsidy removal, Governor Soludo provided non-taxable monthly stipends of N12,000 to public servants and pensioners from September to December 2023, costing the state treasury an additional N2.977 billion.

Recognizing the importance of reliable transportation for civil servants, the Governor also initiated the refurbishment of staff buses, making their daily commute more convenient.

Governor Soludo’s compassion extended beyond state employees. Vulnerable groups such as hawkers, okada riders, and petty traders, who are often hardest hit by economic turmoil, were granted tax exemptions, providing much-needed relief.

These efforts by Governor Soludo aim to boost disposable income for families and create a more supportive environment for the people of Anambra State.
